Commercial growers use the UConn Plant and Soil Health Center to identify plant diseases and pest problems, fine-tune fertility, protect crop yield and quality, and manage soils responsibly. Prices Effective:  1 May, 2026 

The UConn Soil Nutrient Analysis Laboratory offers a reduced price for soil samples submitted in bulk (10 or more) for only the Standard Nutrient Analysis (pH, Ca, Mg, K, P, micronutrients, sulfur, lead screening, cation exchange capacity, base saturation). The regular price of the Standard Nutrient Analysis is $18 per sample. The discount charge is $15 per sample

To qualify for our discount price, the following requirements must be met: 

  1. Ten (10) samples or more are submitted at one time
  2. The samples are submitted from June 1st through March 15th. Bulk sample discounts are not valid from March 16th through May 31st because of high sample volume. Commercial vendors are especially encouraged to submit samples during the fall. 
  3. Payment (check or money order) must accompany samples. We will not bill at the discount rate. 
  4. Label the outside of each bag with a waterproof marker. Bags must be clearly labeled with a number corresponding to the submission form, as 1,2,3,….10,11,12, etc. The bags may also contain up to a 12-character sample ID. (The sample ID can be the chronological number). Zipper lock sandwich bags are preferred. Please do not put the sample ID inside the bag, as soil moisture can smudge the ink or damage the paper. 
  5. A sample submission form MUST accompany the samples. Full contact information only needs to be listed on the first page, but do include the name on additional pages. Please look up and list crop codes.
  6. When more than ten samples are being submitted at one time, use the additional -sample sheet and re-number as needed.  For example, change 1, 2, 3 … 10, to 11, 12, 13 … 20, etc. 

            Please note that the George Leigh Minor Plant and Soil Health Center will invoice the remaining standard fee for any samples submitted without complete paperwork, properly labeled sample bags, or included payment. If you have any questions, please call our office.
