Soil Nutrient Test Pricing

Test Name DescriptionPrice per Sample
Comprehensive Standard Nutrient Analysis A more complete nutrient and soil health snapshot: Standard Nutrient Analysis plus soluble salts, organic matter, and plant-available nitrogen (nitrate-N and ammonium-N). $45.00
End-of-Season Cornstalk Test Nitrate-N is measured in properly collected cornstalks at harvest to assess whether in-season N was below optimum, optimum, or above optimum. Often used alongside the PSNT. $12.00
Organic Matter Content Soil organic matter (%OM) is measured by loss-on-ignition for soils or composts. Typical ranges are 4–8% for soils and 40–60% for finished compost. No recommendations are provided. $10.00
Plant Tissue Nutrient Analysis (With Nitrogen) Measures total nitrogen (%), phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and magnesium percentage plus Boron, Copper, Iron, Manganese, Molybdenum, Sodium, Zinc, Aluminum, and Lead (ppm, dry weight). Results will indicate whether each nutrient is within sufficiency ranges; no fertilizer recommendations are provided. $40.00
Plant Tissue Nutrient Test (without Nitrogen) Same as above, except total nitrogen % $25.00
Plant Tissue Total Nitrogen and Total Carbon Measures total nitrogen (%) and carbon (%) in plant tissue $20.00
Plant Tissue Total Nitrogen Only Measures total nitrogen (%) in plant tissue $15.00
Pre-Sidedress Soil Nitrate Test (PSNT) PSNT measures soil nitrate-N to guide in-season N rates for silage corn, sweet corn, and pumpkins (also useful for turf). For samples received June 1 to mid-August, results are typically ready the next business day, and growers are contacted with results and N recommendations by email, fax, or phone. $12.00
Saturated Media Extract (SME) – for Soilless Greenhouse Media Only Saturated Media Analysis is for soilless greenhouse mixes (or mixes with ≤20% mineral soil). It measures plant-available calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, boron, iron, manganese, and zinc, plus quick nitrate-N and ammonium-N estimates, media pH, and soluble salts. Submit 1 pint sample. Upon request, commercial crop recommendations are available through UConn Extension’s greenhouse crops specialist. $25.00
Soil pH ONLY Measures soil pH and provides lime recommendations to raise pH or sulfur recommendations to lower pH (List the crop for recommendation). Soil pH is included in the Standard Nutrient Analysis. $7.00
Soil Textural Analysis Measures sand, silt, and clay by the hydrometer method and assigns a USDA soil textural class. No recommendations are provided. $20.00
Soluble Salts The total soluble salts are determined using a 1:2, V:V electrical conductivity method. Interpretation is provided. $7.00
Standard Nutrient Analysis (Modified Morgan) This test measures plant-available nutrients (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, iron, manganese, copper, zinc, aluminum, and boron) using the Modified Morgan extractant, plus soil pH and buffer pH. It also includes lead screening, estimated cation exchange capacity (CEC) and % base saturation, and crop-specific lime and fertilizer recommendations. This is the test included with our pre-paid soil test kits and is recommended for lawns, gardens, ornamentals, fruits, agronomic crops, and nursery crops grown in mineral soil. Not suitable for compost or soilless media. $18.00
Standard Nutrient Analysis with Expedited Processing Standard Nutrient Analysis with expedited processing (guaranteed 5-business-day turnaround upon sample receipt) $58
Total Sorbed Metals Test I Measures total sorbed cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), and zinc (Zn) in soils using EPA Method 3050B digestion with metals detection by EPA Method 6010. $50.00
Total Sorbed Metals Test II Same as Test I, plus arsenic (As), molybdenum (Mo), and selenium (Se). $60.00
